What is the faith tradition of Harvest Hills Church?
Harvest Hills Church is affiliated with the Church of God , the world’s oldest continuing Pentecostal denomination. According to Christianity Today, the Church of God is one of the fastest growing denominations in the world. Through this affiliation, Harvest Hills Church participates in a global network of churches committed to world evangelization. In a broader context, HHC enjoys affiliation with the National Association of Evangelicals, the Pentecostal World Fellowship and numerous para-church organizations.

What characterizes worship at Harvest Hills Church?

Wholehearted worship engages the stress of contemporary life, replacing fear, doubt and uncertainty with faith, hope and peace. Harvest Hills Church is a Pentecostal church, both in theology and experience. Because we are Pentecostal, certain dynamics characterize our worship. First, authentic worship finds its validity in the truth of scripture. Second, the person of Jesus Christ is exalted. Third, reliance upon the Holy Spirit is essential for meaningful worship. Fourth, an atmosphere for personal intimacy with God is encouraged.
What about the dress code for worship?

Scripture teaches that one’s manner of dress should be modest (I Timothy 2:9, 1 Peter 3:3), however, modesty is not determined by a particular style of clothing. Whether formal or casual, one’s clothing should reflect good taste.

What is the purpose for the lifting and clapping of hands?

“Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and praise the Lord.” Psalm 134:2 “I want men everywhere to lift up their hands in prayer without anger or disputing.” I Timothy 2:8 “Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy.” Psalm 47:1

What is the purpose for audible praise to God?
“Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me bless His holy name.” Psalm 103:1

Why does the church pray corporately?

“When they heard this, they raised their voices together in prayer to God.” Acts 4:24

What about speaking in tongues?

“Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good...speaking in different kinds of tongues, and…the interpretation of tongues.” I Corinthians 12: 7, 10 “Therefore…do not forbid speaking in tongues.” I Corinthians 14:39

What about prayer for the sick and anointing with oil?
“Is any one of you sick? He shall call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned he will be forgiven.” James 5:14-15
